Oldest temples in Nepal

Nepal's oldest dates rest on inscriptions and tradition, and almost every temple has been rebuilt after fires and earthquakes, most recently after 2015. The Maya Devi Temple at Lumbini marks the Buddha's birthplace and an Ashokan temple of about 249 BC, though the hall over the excavations is from 2003. In the Kathmandu Valley, Changu Narayan, Pashupatinath and Swayambhunath all go back to the 4th or 5th century, while the present Changu Narayan temple is of 1702. Manakamana, reached by cable car, Janakpur's Janaki Temple and Pokhara's World Peace Pagoda complete the list.
