Hua Hin has one entry of its own: Wat Huay Mongkol, about 15 km inland, with its giant statue of the revered monk Luang Phor Thuat, best reached by taxi or rented scooter. Everything else lies to the north. Wat Bang Kung, the small chapel wrapped in banyan roots near Amphawa, is a good stop on the road towards Bangkok, and the capital's great temples are some 140 km away, around three hours by car or train. That makes Bangkok a long day trip; an overnight stay is easier.
