Temples with free entry in India

Free entry is the norm at India's working temples, but read the caveats. Akshardham in Delhi charges for its exhibitions and water show, Galtaji in Jaipur and Jama Masjid in Delhi for cameras, Meenakshi in Madurai for fast-track darshan; Ranakpur charges foreigners while Indians enter free, and the Jagannath Temple in Puri admits Hindus only. The Golden Temple in Amritsar and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi are open to all and feed visitors free from their kitchens. Shoes go to a counter, heads are covered in gurdwaras, and phones or leather may be barred.
