Temples near Agra

Agra's own entry is the Jama Masjid, the Mughal congregational mosque opposite Agra Fort, best seen together with the fort. The Krishna towns of Mathura and Vrindavan lie about 50 km north-west, an hour or so by road on the way towards Delhi, with the Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish and Banke Bihari temples. They are packed during Holi and Janmashtami. Vrindavan's monkeys snatch glasses and phones, so keep them out of sight. Karauli's Madan Mohan Temple, about 100 km into Rajasthan, needs a car.
