Oldest temples in Mexico

Founding dates for Mexico's pre-Hispanic cities are estimates of first settlement, and the pyramids you see usually came centuries later. Palenque heads the list at about 226 BC, though its best-known buildings, the Temple of the Inscriptions among them, belong to the 7th century AD. Teotihuacan follows at about 100 BC and Coba soon after. Uxmal's main buildings date from 700 to 1000, and Chichen Itza and Tulum, the busiest sites on the Yucatán, come last; Tulum was still inhabited when the Spanish arrived.
