The Temple of Debod in Madrid is a genuine Nubian temple, given by Egypt after the Aswan High Dam threatened it and rebuilt in a park near the Royal Palace, where it is best at sunset. In Barcelona, four Corinthian columns of the Temple of Augustus hide in a courtyard of the Gothic Quarter; the Roman Temple of Vic survived wrapped inside a medieval castle; and in Córdoba the marble columns of a first-century temple rise beside a modern street. Debod's interior closes on Mondays.
