Bolivia’s two temples are pre-Christian ruins on the Altiplano near Lake Titicaca. Kalasasaya, the great walled platform of standing stones at Tiwanaku, dates to at least the first centuries BC and AD and was probably used for ceremonies and watching the sun; it is a day trip from La Paz. Pilko Kaina, on the Island of the Sun, is a fifteenth-century Inca building, reached by boat from Copacabana.
