Hue, Vietnam
No ticket for the Temple of Literature in Hue is sold online, and it is not one of the sites included in the combined tickets for the Imperial City and the royal tombs. Entry is handled on the spot: the site is free or carries only a token charge at the gate, and there are no timed slots or queues, since it sees far fewer visitors than the citadel.
The temple lies on the north bank of the Perfume River, a little upstream from the Thien Mu Pagoda and about 5 km west of the city centre. Most visitors who reach it come by bicycle, motorbike taxi or a hired car along the riverside road, often as an extension of a visit to Thien Mu.
