Two of Krabi's entries are close at hand. The Tiger Cave Temple, a few kilometres from Krabi Town, is known for its stairway of about 1,260 steps to a golden Buddha on the summit, so start early before the heat. The Phra Nang Cave Shrine, with its offerings of carved wooden phalluses, sits at the end of Phra Nang beach on Railay, reached only by longtail boat from Ao Nang or Krabi Town. The Monkey Cave Temple at Phang Nga and Wat Chalong on Phuket are each a long half day by road.
