National Mosque of Malaysia (Masjid Negara) vs Thean Hou Temple
Two temples in Kuala Lumpur. National Mosque of Malaysia (Masjid Negara) has no online ticket listed; Thean Hou Temple has 1 ticket or tour to book. The table and the two notes below put them side by side; the full pages have what to see, the ticket and the timing for each.
There is nothing to book for the National Mosque, and no ticket for it alone is sold online. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome free of charge during set visiting hours outside the prayer times, entering through a dedicated visitors' entrance where robes and headscarves are handed out at no cost and shoes are left on racks. Volunteer guides are often on hand to explain the building and answer questions about Islam, again without charge.
Many travellers see the mosque on a half-day or full-day Kuala Lumpur city tour.
Thean Hou Temple is free to enter and needs no ticket. It stands on Robson Heights, a hill just south of central Kuala Lumpur, about 3 km from KL Sentral, and most visitors arrive by taxi or ride-hailing car. Walking up is possible but the final road is very steep and has little shade, so it is not much fun in the midday heat.
The organised way to see it is a half-day or full-day city tour that collects passengers from hotels in the city centre and links several of the capital's religious landmarks.
